After spending over two weeks at isolation centers, the Niger State Government has disclosed that the 64 Almajiris who tested positive for COVID-19 in the state have recovered fully and reunited with their families.
Making this known, the state Commissioner of Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Mohammed Makusidi, while answering questions from journalists, said: “We have so far gotten 166 positive COVID-19 cases, including Almajiris.
“In all, 1,075 Almajiris were tested, out of which 64 returned positive.
“However, the good news is that they have all recovered and are now reunited with their families.”
The Commissioner added that those of them who are not indigenes of the State have been repatriated to their various States of origin.
He disclosed further: “In Niger State, we have carried out test on 1,778 people, out of which 166 are COVID-19 positive.
“As at today, we do not have any patient in our isolation centres because we have discharged most of them, while few others have been transferred out for more medical attention.”
Mohammed said the state will soon overcome challenge in testing with the completion of the multi purpose testing laboratory being built in Minna.
He appealed to people to always report all deaths so that the dead can be subjected to COVID-19 test for the safety of family members and the public in general.
