The Cross River State Office of Head of Service has suspended the verification exercise of officers dropped from the state’s payroll and those engaged, but not yet in the payroll system.
Emmanuel Eke, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Cross River State Head of Service, made this known in a statement in Calabar on Tuesday.
He said the measure was aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Eke said the verification was scheduled to run from March 24 to 26, but was postponed indefinitely due to the present health challenge.
He added: “In line with Governor Ben Ayade’s directive of halting public gatherings and other activities to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the verification exercise for officers not in the state’s payroll has been suspended.
“A new date shall be communicated as soon as the situation of this health crisis gets better.
“However, inconvenience arising from this is highly regretted please.”
