An Ebute Meta, Lagos State Magistrates’ Court on Friday in Lagos remanded two brothers in Ikoyi Prisons, Lagos over alleged murder of their landlord.
The accused, Taiwo Bello, 28, and Ayomide Bello, 25, who reside at 14 Equity Street, Anuoluwapo Estate, Lagos, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful killing.
The Magistrate, M.O. Tanimola, said the accused should remain in custody, pending an advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
The plea of the accused was not taken by the court.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Corporal Samuel Ishola, told the court that the accused committed the offences on October 27 at about 12am at Equity Street, Anuoluwapo Estate, Lagos.
Ishola said that the deceased, Alhaji Amoo Tijani, 52, was landlord to the accused persons.
The prosecutor said that the accused did not pay the deceased house rent for over a year.
He said: “The deceased told the accused to pack out of his house but they accused refused to leave the house.
“The deceased and the accused had misunderstanding. The accused beat the deceased to death.”
He said that the offences contravened Section 221 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused may be sentenced to death on conviction.
The case was adjourned till December 18 for mention.
