A Shari’a Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna State on Monday ordered that a trader, Alqasim Sani, who allegedly beat up his wife, Maryam Haruna, for refusing to fetch his cap, be remanded in a correctional facility.
The Judge, Malam Dahiru Bamalli, ordered that he be remanded until June 15, pending when he provides a reliable surety.
Bamalli also ordered the complainant to produce her witnesses by the next adjourned date.
Earlier, the complainant alleged that her husband beat her up for failing to fetch his cap.
“Right now, I cannot see clearly due to the beating I got from my husband,” she said.
She, however, prayed the court to intervene into the matter and grant her Justice.
In his defence, Sani denied the claim, saying it was untrue and that the complainant was at fault.
“She attacked me first and in the process, she fell and hit her head on the bed post,” he said.
