Reacting to the ongoing saga of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and the All Progressives Congress, a former Commissioner of Police and a public affairs analyst, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has said the party lacks internal democracy and corruption was thriving among its members.
According to Tsav, Saraki foiled an attempted coup, adding that the manner the APC was managing its victory from the last election might make them not as lucky as the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said: “They may even lose out if President Muhammadu Buhari opts not to contest in 2019.
“The party lacks internal democracy and corruption is still thriving among its members.
“Take the case of Benue State for instance, where Senator George Akume had taken over the structure of the party and denied members justice and fair play.
“Not only that, he is imposing people of his choice for political appointments.
“The Governor who came into the party by fraud is very vindictive and unforgiving.
“Governor Ortom did not even go through APC primaries.
“He was imposed by Senator Akume.
“That’s why Ortom’s election is being challenged by both the APC and PDP.
“Unless there is a change, the re-election of APC in 2019 may be difficult.”
Tsav said he wished APC leaders would know who Senator Akume truly is and not trust him with position of leadership.
He said: “President Buhari must rise up to be Nigeria’s president and not APC’s as former President Goodluck Jonathan was.
“His fight against corruption must be total and sweeping.”
