The Lagos State chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council has commended the proactive efforts of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, towards the curtailment of the spread and total eradication of the deadly Coronavirus Disease currently ravaging the entire globe.
This was revealed in a release signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Tade Ademola, after an emergency meeting held on March 30, 2020 to discuss the effect of the pandemic on Lagos citizens and steps being taken by all tiers of government to prevent its spread and eradicate it.
The Council appreciated the proactive efforts of the Governor and his team on the steps taken thus far and requested that the testing facilities be extended to the suburbs and densely populated communities in the state.
While encouraging Lagosians to strictly follow Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the State Government’s directives like hand washing, maintaining social distancing as well as stay at home order, the Council further appealed to the Law enforcement agencies to be professional in the enforcement of these directives and avert misapplication of the laws.
IPAC also directed all political parties in the state to continue to enlighten and inform the people at the grassroots with a view to assisting the government in this task.
“We commend the bold efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in tackling this menacing disease and seek for inclusion of our members in the distribution of relief materials, food items as well as other committee set up and not limit the membership to the ruling Party alone as our members are scattered all over the hook and crannies of the state,” the statement read
The statement further called on well-meaning Lagosians to support the State Government by donating either cash or food items to the needy as well as those whose businesses the current lockdown will greatly affect.
