The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has tasked the new traditional ruler (Ejeh) of Ankpa, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed-Yakubu, on the maintenance of peaceful coexistence amongst citizens for the prosperity of the Ankpa Kingdom.
He gave the charge in Ankpa on Saturday during the official presentation of the Staff of Office to Ahmed-Yakubu.
The Governor, who underscored the paramount role of justice in Ahmed-Yakubu’s reign, emphasised the need for impartiality and fairness in his administration of justice to all his subjects.
Bello said: “Today, we are here to celebrate you, my brother, Alhaji Ahmed-Yakubu, as the fourth Ejeh of Ankpa, through this presentation of the Staff of Office to you.
“As the paramount ruler of Ankpa, you are now entrusted with the responsibility of becoming the father of all, tasked with the duty of dispensing justice without bias or favouritism.
“With this honour, you have become the father of all, and you must be just and equitable in all circumstances.
“I hereby urge you to also cultivate unity amongst your subjects as this unity is pivotal to ensuring the security and prosperity of Ankpa.
“Ankpa is blessed with abundant natural and human resources, and you can only harness these resources in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.”
Speaking on the forthcoming governorship election in the state, the Governor implored all politicians to adhere to the rules of the game for a peaceful, credible and successful election.
According to Bello: “Kogi is our state and I look forward to a time when we can convene as brothers and sisters to discuss the growth and development of our state.”
Bello assured that his administration was resolute for a peaceful conduct of the election, just as the security agencies have pledged to be vigilant.
“No act of violence will be tolerated before, during, and after the election,” he said.
The Governor, however, expressed confidence that his party, the All Progressives Congress, will emerge victorious, appealing to all residents of Kogi State to steer clear of violence.

NAN reports that the presentation of the Staff of Office attracted a distinguished assembly of dignitaries from diverse spheres of life across the country.
The guests included the Atta Igala and Chairman of the Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Ogwuche-akpa; Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; Etsu Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar; and Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Diko Umar Rada.
Others were former Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada; former Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema; Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu; as well as eminent sons and daughters of the state and a host of other prominent individuals.
