Recommendation by Trade and Investment Conference Committee to reserve contract less than N10 billion for Nigerian Contractors in other to grow local industries was thrown out by the delegates at the ongoing National Conference.
Conference also resolved to retain the CBN, Small and Medium Equity Investment Scheme. It was proposed by a delegate during amendment that it should be scrapped and the provision therein incorporated into proposed Investors Investment Act so that there will be funds to manage what is provided in the Act.
The Conference took the decisions after clause-by-clause consideration of the report of Conference Committee on Trade and Investment.
Conference also voted against establishing Special Banks created for market women.
Furthermore, Conference has resolved that there should be a short and medium term welfare provision for children, women, unemployed, mentally and physically-challenged.
Conference agreed that government should pay the local debt amounting N1 trillion to encourage contractors
It took the Conference two days to exhaustively debated the report of the committee on Trade and Investment before embarking on consideration of the Committee recommendations.
