The Ndowka ethnic nationality in Delta State has charged the ongoing National Conference on four issues.
They are a return to fiscal federalism, devolution of power, principle of derivation and creation of states.
According to the people of the axis, Ndowkaland has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s economy hence needs the for the creation of Anioma State from the existing oil rich Delta State.
Rising from a town hall meeting in Kwale on Sunday, the people, under the aegis of Ndokwa Neku Union, led by its President-General and member representing the South-South minorities at the ongoing National Conference, Pharmacist Paul Enebeli, said the nationality had resolved to explore all peaceful and legal means henceforth to address issues of neglect and deprivation of the oil and gas producing areas.
A communiqué issued at the end of the enlarged session called for commitment on the part of all stakeholders in the task of enhancing the unity and development of the locality.
The meeting was attended by elected political office holders, political leaders, captain of industries, women, youths, and other eminent sons and daughters of Ndokwaland, including the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon. Ossai N. Ossai; General Godwin Alabi Isama (rtd.); Rear Admiral Mike Onah; Ambassador Gabriel Chukwuma Oyibode; General Philip Onyekweli (rtd.); Chief Fidelis Tilije; Hon. Emeka Ukpe; Prof. Felix Okpilike; and Dr. Bliss Osakwe.
They urged President Goodluck Jonathan not to be deterred by terrorists threats.
“While Ndokwa nation identified with numerous challenges facing Nigeria currently, positive response to our demands will bring succour to the people of the land by reaching the unreached, changing lives positively and building hope in all parts of Delta state,” Enebeli said.
He hailed the courageous manner Jonathan has handled the menace of Boko Haram so far, maintaining that “it has so far conformed with with global standards.”
