A Yoruba group, the Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups, has warned all delegates from the South West geopolitical zone to see the pursuit of the Yoruba people as sacrosanct and pursue it vigorously.
COSEG warned that dire consequence awaits anyone that betrays it.
The group stated that several conferences of the Yoruba people, well organised and publicised before arriving at what is now known as the Yoruba Agenda were held, stressing that delegates must strive to see to its actualisation at the ongoing national conference.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, signed by the Chairman of its Coordinating Council, Comrade Ifedayo Ogunlana, COSEG stated that all eyes were on the delegates to the conference and that the realisation of the Yoruba agenda must be pursued by all means necessary by working in concert with other progressives.
According to the group: “We are watching with keen interest the debate at the ongoing national conference and we want to sound a note of warning to all delegates of Yoruba extraction that they must pursue the Yoruba agenda that was adopted in Ibadan vigorously and ensure that they collectively defend it. No individual or group interest must override the collective interest of the Yoruba people. Also, dire consequence awaits anyone that betrays the people of Yorubaland.”
COSEG urged delegates to work and collaborate with other progressives at the confab that share same aspiration with the Yoruba in order to achieve the desired goal, maintaining that the restructuring of the present structure in Nigeria, right to self determination and resource control should be properly articulated by all delegates.
