Nigeria’s Esther Kolawole has claimed a bronze medal in the Women’s Freestyle 62kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The Nigerian wrestler defeated Abble Fountain 10-0 in the third place tie at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
Ahead of her bronze medal win, Kolawole defeated Sachini Weraduwage in the quarter finals but lost by 10-4 to Canada’s A. Godinez Gonzalez in the semi finals.
With this victory, Kolawole joined Odunayo Adekuoroye as one of the wrestlers that made the country proud in Birmingham.
Nigeria now occupied the 9th position on the medals table with six gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
