The Ogun Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Monda monitored level of compliance with the signing of undertaking forms by parents and students as schools resumed for the second term of 2021/2022 academic session.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, spoke after the exercise monitored in several schools.
He emphasised the need to adhere to government’s instructions before allowing students into classrooms for learning activities.
Arigbabu admonished learners to imbibe the spirit of excellence and good behaviour for a hitch-free academic session, adding that government would not relent in providing free and qualitative education.
He said: “We need parents, learners and everyone to be involved in the running of schools.
“The teachers are trying their best and we want you to help us achieve this feat.
“I look forward to seeing good ambassadors that will do the state proud in the nearest future.
“So, cooperate with us in building future leaders.”
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Ronke Soyombo, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by parents and learners with the signing of undertaking forms.
Soyombo stated that the government had put in place measures that would restore standard and discipline in schools.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the schools visited included Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Ijebu Muslim College, Adeola Odutola College, all in Ijebu-Ode.
Others were: Remo Secondary School and Methodist Comprehensive College, Sagamu.
