A cleric, Pastor Ayo Afolayan, Convener of Better Nigeria Conference, has called on religious organisations in the country to impact their members through knowledge sharing to achieve a better nation.
Afolayan made the call in Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday while speaking on the rationale behind the just concluded maiden edition of: “Better Nigeria Conference,” held on Saturday.
He stressed the need for religious bodies to make conference on national development a common place, as they organise services.
He said: “I believe that if all religious organisations, including Mosques and Churches, with capacity to impact knowledge should make conference on nation building a common place, just like churches hold revival and camp meeting, Nigeria will be transformed.
“If our nation will survive the challenges ahead, just as nations have plans underway to replace oil, we must put in place functional education philosophy and system, we must promote agriculture and ensure it creates jobs.
“Government should provide enabling environment for investors to come as well as engage the population of young people who are jobless.
“These ones are the latent weapon of the devil, just as we are witnessing with the Boko Haram.
“There can be no growth where there is no peace and security.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the “Better Nigeria Conference 2019” had the theme: “Positioning the Individual and the Nation for Significant Improvement,” where various stakeholders spoke on ways to make Nigeria great.
