Kidnappers of Chief Edwin Clark’s son, Ebikeme, were on Tuesday arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Men of the Delta State Police Command that arraigned them said every investigation over their involvement had been concluded.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said they were arraigned within the metropolis after applying for an assumption of jurisdiction to the Chief Justice of the state to evade what occurred last month when suspects were waylaid on their way to a court in Oleh by hoodlums.
Kali said the six suspects were charged on three count offences – conspiracy to felony to kidnap, offence punishable under Section 516(A) of the Criminal Code Cap C Vol. 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.
Before nemesis caught up with the suspects, they had imprisoned one Mrs. Rose in March 2014 at Aladja Magistrate District and demanded N1.8 million before her release.
She said on April 2, the suspects also imprisoned Ebikeme Clark in such manner and denied him access from discovering the place he was imprisoned.
Kalu maintained that the offences are punishable under Section 3(1) of Delta State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti Terrorism Laws No. 8 of 2013.
They were paraded last week after Joshua, a native of Kalafighbene in Bomadi Local Government area of the state, a driver of an ex-militant warlord, provided the AK47 rifle used in the kidnap, said: “We kidnapped him because his father failed to provide jobs for us.”
