Civilian JTF foils attempt by suicide bomber to attack market

An attempt by a suicide bomber to attack and wreak havoc at Rumirgo Market in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturdaymorning was thwarted by a gallant vigilante group member.

The members of the vigilante group are popularly known as Civilian Joint Task Force.

The suspected suicide bomber, heading to Rumirgo Market, was accosted by the ever vigilant and security conscious vigilante.

In the process of interrogation, the suspected terrorist blew himself off and died on the spot.

The vigilante member sustained injuries and has been rushed to hospital for medical treatment by troops.

The situation is said to be under control as people have been going about their normal businesses.

The Nigerian Troops have has been placed on maximum alert to forestall further attack, a statement on Saturday said.

It added: “We want seize this opportunity to call on the public to continue to be more vigilant and security conscious.”
