Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has advised Christians to use the Christmas season to preach national unity, love and understanding.
Ahmed, in his Christmas message to the people of the state, said peace and unity were essential in healing the pains in the land.
The message was issued on Wednesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba.
Ahmed also advised that the period should be used to pray for peace, adding that Christians must see the Yuletide as a season for showing love, especially to the needy.
The governor advised Nigerians to always project the virtues of humility, self denial and brotherliness, describing these as the hallmarks of the teachings of Christianity and other religions.
Ahmed commended Christian leaders in the state for promoting religious harmony through their preaching, stressing that such purposefulness should be maintained as Nigerians look forward to 2015.
The governor assured the people of the state that his administration was committed to fairness and equity to adherents of all faiths.
