The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has opted to defend himself in the case against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
This followed the refusal of Saraki’s lawyers to continue with the case.
The lawyers opted out after the CCT on Thursday insisted on going ahead with the trial despite the request by the lawyers that the trial be adjourned to give room for the Supreme Court to decide on Saraki’s appeal before it.
Saraki had gone to the Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal overruled the request of Saraki for the dismissal of his trial by the CCT.
On Thursday after the lawyers walked out, Saraki requested for one month to put together a new legal team.
But the Tribunal gave him just one week.
The trial was adjourned to November 19, 2015.
