It has been beautiful. I do not have a problem going back to Biochemistry because I’ve always been part of the Biochemistry family. I thank God that in my eight years as a governor, I always kept it low and simple with my people in biochemistry so that this transition would not be a problem. I think it’s beautiful. We’re looking at new challenges from the perspective of science and how to further our acquisition of knowledge.

World leaders from 198 countries converged on New York last week for the 78th United Nations General Assembly(UNGA) where the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDG) took the centre stage. The world has seven years left out of the 15 years timeline to achieve these universally agreed objectives, which include ending poverty, ensuring quality education, promoting good health, and providing access to affordable and clean water. But they all agreed that they were all far behind the objectives meant to be achieved by the year 2030.

If you look at the report of some of the election observation groups that monitored the conduct of law enforcement agencies during the elections, you will see different reports, and by the way, there is a standard to assess them if they develop what they call standard operational guidelines for law enforcement officers on election duty. If you use that, they were supposed to be polite, impartial, and responsive, among others. But what we found is that there were few cases where we saw people in a police uniform committing electoral violence, but it was not so widespread.
