The Senate had penultimate week, following a petition forwarded to it by Kashamu’s lawyer, Barrister Ajibola Oluyede, on alleged plan to abduct the embattled senator by NDLEA operatives for onward extradition to America to face prosecution, urged both the NDLEA and the office of the AGF and Minister of Justice to drop the alleged plan and follow the rule of law

But the CCSGs in a protest letter to Buhari, signed by its President, Etuk Bassey Williams, and Secretary-General, Ibrahim Abubakar, said the action contravenes the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act No.11 of 1993 (as amended) by decree No.25, 1996 and further amended in 2003 and 2012 respectively and other agreements as contained in the 2009 FGN staff union agreement

The Justice said: “While the court commends the introduction of card readers, the innovation, however, cannot supersede the voters register.
“The extant laws of the Federation provides for the use of voters register but the card reader irrespective of its importance does not have a place in any extant law of the land
