Ten years since the launch of violent attacks against innocent citizens, it is pertinent to find out exactly what Boko Haram want. It is not enough to continue to wage a war against Boko Haram who have killed over 30,000 innocent citizens and displaced over two million people from July 2009 to July 2019
Nigerians have arrived at a stricture of no going back. The country, according to millions, is overripe for revolution. Out there on the streets, there is a huge sense of disillusion compounded by the daily killings of innocent Nigerians by bandits and terrorists known as Fulani herdsmen
Until his death on July 31, 2019, TJ was the Special Assistant (General Duties) to the President. He retired from Public Service as a Director/Special Assistant (Special Duties) to the Permanent Secretary in 2016 and was given another appointment for his invaluable contributions.
I confess, we missed the mark and campaigned for him. In the words of a famous comedian, he promised change but changed the promise once in power.
The Department of State Services cannot be accused of being fair-handed and unprejudiced. It has always been the political police of the existing regime. I recall in 2014 when agents of the service invaded the offices of the All Progressives Congress in search of incriminating materials, hounded the staff of the party and made a spectacle of them for droll offences, the agency was serving the Peoples Democratic Party government at the time. Now it is serving another regime. The same pattern, the same objective, the same repression, the same pursuit.

The screening of ministerial nominees by the Senate has come and gone but the dust it raised may take some time to settle. The announcement of ministerial nominations is always greeted with public excitement. And the case was not different this time round too, for obvious reasons. The President needs ministers to help him in running the affairs of the country. When the ministers are in place, it is generally believed the full complement of the Executive is formed for the business of governance to begin in earnest. This is why the nation was eager about the composition of the next Federal Executive Council. President Muhammadu Buhari eventually forwarded the names of his nominees to the Senate for screening and approval last week. The public anxiety continued until last week Tuesday when the list was unveiled at the Senate plenary by Senate President Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan.

I say this because we have had cases of rape worse than this before now. Could it be that Nigerians are just waking up to the realities of this strange tradition of violence against humanity? I say humanity because in the present day society, men are also victims of rape.
The death of Olufunke Olakunrin, the daughter of Afenifere chieftain, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, came as a shock to many Nigerians at a time the polity of the nation is on the heat. There are different sides to the views of many, with the likely insinuation that could be out of proportion due to politics and unethical sensitisation. However, we need ask ourselves some candid questions. How many people had faced such sudden deaths without a single blink by some of our leaders? How many had been under siege and incessant attacks leaving hundreds dead, without recourse to their families? How many are in the deck of yet unwanted sojourn in the hands of these kidnappers and all we hear is “nothing of such exists.” The late Mrs. Olakunrin’s death became a glaring case of the unsolicited killings of innocent victims by these bigots who parade themselves as herdsmen.
The news today, July 29, 2019 that the Independent National Electoral Commission failed to call witnesses to counter claims of malpractices against the commission by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the February 23 presidential poll, Atiku Abubakar, must have come as a rude shock to all Nigerians seeking to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth in this #ServerGate controversy.
