Cardiff City are reportedly set to step up their interest in signing want away West Brom striker, Osaze Peter Odemwingie.
Odemwingie is set to leave the Baggies after falling out of favour following his well-publicised attempt to try and secure a move to QPR in January.
Several Premier League clubs expressed interest in the Nigerian, with Crystal Palace and Hull both mentioned earlier in the summer.
Fulham were then linked with a move for Odemwingie while Dubai club, Al Nasr, had an £850,000 bid rejected, However, Cardiff look set to step up their interest as their boss, Malky Mackay, looks for a proven top-flight striker to aid his side in their bid to stay up this season.
Mackay has already secured two signings, spending almost £20 million, but he is keen to make further additions.
“We still have three or four irons in the fire and we have until September 2 when the transfer window closes,” said Mackay.
“We may well start the season still chasing targets but by the end of August, I hope to have the squad together than can absolutely compete.”
