Ibrahim Farinloye, the spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency in the South-West Zone, on Monday confirmed the recovery of bodies of four missing passengers of a capsized boat at the Bayeku area of Lagos State.
Farinloye, who made the confirmation while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, added that the bodies had been deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital in Lagos.
He said that the bodies were taken to the hospital by the officers of Marine Police.
NAN reports that on September 13, a 20-passenger boat, which took off from the Okera-Nla area of Ikorodu, capsized on its way to Bayeku.
The boat was owned by Okera-Nla Boat Association.
The spokesman said that the boat mishap was caused by an unknown object that pierced the boat.
Farinloye said that the boat had maintained normal National Inland Waterways Authority safety standard, but unfortunately capsized due to the object.
