The Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter has called on Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to appoint more Christian politicians to bring about near balance in the administration of Niger State.
The state Chairman of CAN, Rev. Mathias Echioda, made this appeal at the weekend at a press briefing at the CAN Secretariat, Minna.
Echioda explained that the leadership of the Association has met with Christian politicians in the State and resolved to work and partner with the Bello Administration towards enhancing the speedy development of Niger State.
He said: “CAN leaders had a meeting with Christian politicians in the State, both home and abroad, at the CAN Secretariat, Minna.
“The meeting was a family meeting that afforded members the opportunity to discuss issues as they affect Christians in the State and how to partner with government for a greater Niger State.”
The Christians in politics were also enjoined to be more united and work as a team for the growth and development of the State as indispensable stakeholders.
According to the cleric, Christians in the State recognised with special interest the appointment of Mary Noel Berje as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and commended His Excellency for the choice.
He further said: “While appreciating Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on how he has attended to this, CAN is however urging him to see to the need of making more of such appointments that will bring about a near balance in the administration of the State.”
EChioda expressed the confidence that this will enhance good governance, peaceful co-existence and growth of Niger State, for which the Power State is known.
He said the association will continue to pray intensely for the success of Governor Bello and his team as well as for those who will come on board as Government constitutes its cabinet.
According to him, he will lead the other Ministers and participants to powerfully pray for the Governor, Government and people of Niger State for wisdom, peace, progress and protection.
