In spite of his side’s slim win in the first leg encounter in Port Harcourt a fortnight ago, Dolphins Head Coach, Stanley Eguma, is optimistic his team can turn the tabled against hosts, Coton Sport, when both sides clash in the CAF champions League on Sunday.
Dolphins depart Port Harcourt for Garoua on Friday evening holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and Eguma says he knows he will come out good.
“We are optimistic that it is not yet over. We won’t let the team or country down. We want our fans to still bubble with hope and now we have maximum support from the sponsors of the team,” Eguma said.
On the issue of back log of allowances owed the players, Eguma said they had received assurances from the sports commissioner that the team will be paid before departure for Cameroon.
“They promised to pay the bonuses. March salary was paid yesterday (Thursday) and I spoke with the commissioner a few hours ago and he said everything was still in place for the players to be paid before departure,” Eguma said.
Dolphins depart Port Harcourt for Garoua at 6pm on Friday ahead of Sunday’s tie against Coton Sport FC.
