A 53-year-old businessman, Bamidele Sodiq, on Friday urged an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State to dissolve his 14-year-old marriage over his wife’s alleged intimate relationship with his drivers.
Sodiq, who resides at Owoyemi Crescent, Ajegunle in Ikorodu, said his wife was always spreading rumours about him.
The petitioner also alleged that his wife was “too close and free” with his drivers.
He said: “My wife spreads rumours about me.
“She was always playing and sharing jokes with my drivers.
“In fact, I suspect she was dating one of them because they were too close.
“I have reported to her parents, but she would not listen …Please separate us as I am no more interested in the marriage.”
The 45-year-old wife, Idayat, a horticulturist, however, denied all the claims and urged the court to help save her marriage.
Idayat said: “I am not having an affair with any of the drivers.
“They are just my friends.
“Please help me to beg him.
“I will stop those behaviours.”
The President of the court, Omolara Abiola, adjourned the case till February 1 for a possible reconciliation.
Abiola directed the couple to bring family members to the court at the next date of adjournment.
