President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja stressed the importance of peace in neighbouring Benin Republic.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja, said Buhari stated this at an audience with the President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic in Abuja.
The Nigerian leader emphasised the imperative of good neighbourliness, while pledging Nigeria’s support toward efforts to re-establish political stability in her western neighbour.
The presidential aide said Talon, who came to congratulate Buhari on his re-election and successful inauguration, also briefed the Nigerian leader on the current political situation in his country.
Buhari also received a Sudanese delegation led by Lt.-Gen. Jamal-Eddin Omer Ibrahim, Head of the Security and Defence Committee.
The Sudan delegation briefed Buhari on the political situation in the North-eastern African country.
