All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, promised to open up Taraba for investors to tap into its enormous natural resources to enhance the development of the state.
Buhari made the pledge while addressing thousands of supporters at the Jolly Nyame stadium in Jalingo in continuation of his presidential campaign tour of states.
The president said that he would not only ensure the completion of the Mambilla Hydro Project in Sardauna Local Government Area and Ibbi Bridge but also ensure the construction of the Makurdi-Taraba-Borno rail project.
He expressed the belief that it would help open up the state to other parts of the country for both local and foreign investments as the state has a lot of untapped potential.
He said: “What we need to do is to open up the state for both local and foreign investors. We will complete the Mambilla Dam project that we started after it was neglected for several decades.
“We will also complete the bridge across River Benue in Ibbi Local Government Area.
“We will also construct a railway from Benue to Taraba and up to Borno State, to ease the movement of goods and farm produce. We will ensure that the state is opened for enormous developments.”
The APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Sani Danladi, thanked the people for their unwavering loyalty to the party.
He said that Taraba was in dire need of development and that his regime would correct all the issues that had held the state back over the years.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Taraba was locked down for Buhari as the people, including married women trekked long distances, while traders closed shops to catch a glimpse of the president.
