Breaking: Weah wins 61.5% of 98.1% of votes so far counted

Former African Footballer of the Year, George Weah, is on his way to the Presidential Palace in Liberia.
This followed the counting of 98.1 per cent of ballots so far in the country’s presidential run-off election held on Tuesday by the National Elections Commission, with Weah winning 61.5 per cent.
Weah’s closest challenger, and incumbent Vice President, Joseph Boakai, is far behind with 38.5%.
Weah will succeed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first elected female president, in the country’s first democratic handover of power since 1944.
Sirleaf defeated Weah in the presidential election run-off in 2005, after the end of a brutal civil war.
