The Embassy of the United States of America has suspended the issuance of visa by Drop Box in Nigeria with effect from May 14.
This came to light when some Nigerians seeking to apply for the US visa via the Drop Box process on Tuesday were met with a message saying it had been suspended.
The Drop Box process is for those who previously were given two years visa of the US and who renew it less than one year after it expires.
The other process is for the applicants to be interviewed.
For the Drop Box, the applicant simply fills the form and drops it at the office of courier giant, DHL, for delivery to the Embassy for processing.
The collection is also at the DHL office.
But on Tuesday, the applicants were met with the message: “The Embassy and Consulate of the United States in Nigeria has suspended the interview waiver ‘Drop Box’ application process effective May 14, 2019.”
Enquiries at the Embassy in Lagos by The Eagle Online were yet to be answered as at press time.
