A former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has secured a major victory in his quest to represent Delta South Senatorial District with the nullification of the election of Senator James Manager in the last general election.
The Delta State National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the state capital, on Saturday agreed with Uduaghan that the February 23, 2019 election that produced Manager was fraught with massive rigging and other irregularities, the basis on which the former governor premised his petition.
Uduaghan, according to the petition filed by his lawyer, Thompson Okpoko (SAN), said it was wrong for the Independent National Electoral Commission to have ignored such factors in declaring Manager the winner of the election.
He thus prayed the Tribunal to cancel the election and order a fresh one.
The Tribunal agreed with him.
It ordered INEC to conduct a fresh election within 90 days.
