There was sporadic shooting and violence in Oshodi and its environ in Lagos State on Tuesday night as policemen allegedly killed a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as okay rider.
The shooting and violence left several would-be commuters returning from work stranded, with many of them attacked and dispossessed of their valuables.
According to available information, areas affected by the violence included Oshodi, Mushin and Bolade, especially under the Oshodi Bridge.
Sources told The Eagle Online that the okada riders in their numbers took to the streets to protest the alleged killing of their member and arrest of many others.
They were soon joined by hundreds of street urchins, popularly known as Area Boys, who embarked on attacking passersby, snatching their valuables and setting up bonfire.
The development led to commercial bus drivers keeping off the road, with several commuters stranded and at the mercy of the rampaging protesters.
As at press time, the Lagos State Police Command was yet to react to the development.
