The Senate on Thursday stepped down the presentation of the 2017 budget report for consideration.
The presentation of the Budget was on the Order Paper of the Senate for Thursday.
The suspension of the presentation was hinged on the ongoing meeting between the Senate and the House of Representatives to harmonize the budget.
It is now to be presented next week Tuesday.
The Senate Appropriation Committee had said the 2016 budget would run for 12 months and, therefore, expire on May 5 2017.
However, the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, while speaking on the Order Paper for the day at plenary on Thursday, disclosed that the Appropriation Committees of both chambers are meeting to harmonize the budget.
The Budget was to have been laid in the Senate last week Tuesday.
But Danjuma Goje, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, whose residence was raided by the police two weeks ago, said files containing work on the 2017 budget proposal were carted away during the raid.
Owing to this and the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria Police succumbed to pressure by the National Assembly and returned all items, including budget documents, taken from the residence of Goje during the raid.
