The Senate Adhoc Committee on New Minimum Wage Bill has approved N30,000 as benchmark across the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari had transmitted the minimum wage bill to the National Assembly after its approval by the National Council of State.
The National Council of State approved the sum of N27,000, while the Federal Government said it would increase to N30,000 for its workers
However, the Adhoc Committee, which was chaired by the Deputy Majority Whip, Francis Alimikhena, concluded the consideration of the bill at the Committee level and it is expected to be presented for consideration at the next legislative day.
The adhoc Committee approved N30,000 Minimum Wage for both the Federal Government and state workers.
The conclusion of the Adhoc Committee was revealed by Senator Shehu Sani, who is also a member of the Panel through his Twitter handle on Thursday morning.
According to Sani: “Senate Committee on New National Minimum wage met yesterday and approved the new national minimum wage bill, N30,0000 as minimum wage and N75,000 as penalty for non compliance.
