The headquarters of PREMIUM TIMES was on Thursday raided by policemen.
The raid was carried out at about 5pm, according to the credible online newspaper.
The newspaper’s Publisher, Dapo Olorunyomi, and the Judiciary Correspondent, Evelyn Okakwu, were arrested by the plain clothes policemen.
The policemen, according to the newspaper, said they were acting on a complaint filed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, over some stories it published.
The Editor-in-Chief of PREMIUM TIMES, Musikilu Mojeed, has condemned the raid.
Mojeed said: “They should stop deluding themselves that they can muzzle the press and intimidate PREMIUM TIMES.
“They should know that our loyalty lies with our readers and the Nigerian people who have a right to know.”
Mojeed said the paper will continue “to discharge its responsibilities in line with global best practices, social responsibility and patriotism, even at great risk to our personal liberties”.
