Fears of a possible impeachment of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, loomed on Monday as policemen again stormed the Benue State House of Assembly.
The operatives from the Benue State Police Command had last week also stormed the Assembly, with lawmakers who are pro-Governor Ortom jumping the fence to enter the House.
On Monday, reports by Channels Television had it that the policemen blocked virtually all roads leading to the Assembly.

They were said to have allowed only six anti-Ortom lawmakers into the Assembly.
The 22 lawmakers who impeached the former Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange, were prevented from entering the Assembly.
The lawmakers carried out the impeachment at the Benue State Government House.
Also some youths who had gathered on Monday protesting the developments on the political scene in the state were dispersed with teargas by the policemen drafted to the Assembly.

The youth were said to be protesting the move by the six lawmakers to commence impeachment proceedings against Ortom.
Ortom had last week announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
This had put him at loggerheads with the leadership of the APC, with the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, castigating him.

Ortom also replied Oshiomhole in very scorching words.
Ortom had been in the news of late, especially since the beginning of the year, over herdsmen killing in the state.
About 80 farmers and villagers were killed on the first day of the year in Benue State.
Ortom had taken the issue to President Muhammadu Buhari, protesting the failure of the Federal Government to prevent further deaths in the state.
