There has been a jailbreak in Minna, Niger State.
Some armed men carried out the crime on Sunday at about 8pm .
The jailbreak took place at the Medium Security Prison located in Tunga area of Minna metropolis.
According to the spokesman of the NPS in Niger State, DSP Rabiu Shuaibu, the crime was perpetuated by armed criminals who attacked the prison and gained access after exchange of fire with prison armed men.
This led to the death of a prison officer and a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as okada rider, who conveyed a prison officer on night duty.
So far, through combined effort of all security agencies in the state, seven prisoners who attempted to escape have been recaptured and returned to the prison.
Shuaibu said the prison authority in Minna is profiling the number of fleeing inmates to ascertain the exact number.
