The National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, scheduled to hold on Saturday (today) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been postponed.
The postponement was announced by the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, on Saturday afternoon in Port Harcourt.
This was after delegates had arrived the Garden City for the convention.
Sheriff, who spoke with newsmen, said the postponement followed the cases in court against the holding of the convention.
He said there were currently three court orders stopping the holding of the convention or barring election into certain offices.
There are rulings barring the conduct of election into the offices of the National Chairman, National Secretary and about 16 others.
Sheriff told newsmen: “We want to be seen as a law-abiding party.
“We will ask the delegates to go home.”
