One of Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup, Akwa United, has crashed out of the competition.
This was despite the one nil away advantage the team took into the return leg of the match against Vita Club de Mokanda of Congo at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The Congolese paid Akwa United back in their own coin by winning the return leg by a lone goal in regulation time.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, the Congolese triumphed.
After the regular first five penalty kicks by each team, the home team lost in the sudden death kick.
