The Publisher of Thisday newspaper and President of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, Nduka Obaigbena, has turned himself in to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Sources told The Eagle Online that Obaigbena was sited at the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon.
Obaigbena is under probe over the receipt of N670 million from a former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
The money is believed to be part of the $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.
Obaigbena has however said he collected the money legitimately.
While he said N550 million was approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan for compensation to him for the bombing of his newspaper office in Abuja, N120 million was for 12 media houses whose publications were confiscated by the military.
Some of the media houses have however denied receiving the fund, while some have refunded their after it became public that it was from the money meant for purchase of arms to battle Boko Haram.
As earlier reported by The Eagle Online, Obaigbena, who was out of the country when the issue became public, came into the country over a week ago.
The initial information that reached The Eagle Online was that he was to have reported at the EFCC office last week Tuesday.
Competent sources however confirmed siting him there on Tuesday afternoon.
