The National Assembly Close Circuit Television is not functioning despite the N139 billion budget voted for the legislature in 2018.
This was made known by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, while responding to a point of order raised by Senator Oluremi Tinubu over the recent theft in her National Assembly office.
According to Ekweremadu: “It has been discovered that the CCTV cameras are not working,
“This should not be so.
“I want to appeal to the management to live up to expectations and improve the security situation of the National Assembly.
“Let us sympathize with our colleague on what happened to her.
“There was a similar occurrence with one of our colleagues in the House of Representatives as well.
“Someone’s car was also broken into and money stolen.”
The National Assembly office of Senator Tinubu was burgled by unknown people early this year.
Speaking earlier, Tinubu said: “I request that lost items be restored and further investigation carried out to ensure the safety of people who work in the National Assembly.”
