Militants stormed Ikorodu area of Lagos State on Saturday night, killing seven policemen and soldiers.
The militants were said to have struck late at night despite the presence of security operatives, including those of the Joint Task Force, Operation Awatse.
The militants, it was gathered, left their trail of blood and sorrow more at Woodland Estate in Ishawo area of Ikorodu.
When they left, sources said five policemen and two soldiers, including a Captain, were found dead.
The policemen and soldiers were said to have engaged the militants in a gun duel that lasted several hours.
The casualty figure on the side of the militants was not readily available.
There was no immediate reaction from the spokesmen of the various security agencies in the state.
