Gunmen have burnt a police station in Anambra State, killing unspecified number of policemen in the process
The incident occurred barely 48 hours after a security man was killed and parts of council secretariat in Ukpor of Nnewi South local government area were burnt.
It was gathered the latest incident occurred at Amichi, the home town of former Police Service Commission (PSC) Chairman, Chief Simon Okeke.
An eyewitness said the Police station was set ablaze around 7.30pm Friday.
The source could not ascertain the number of casualties but said some policemen were killed.
Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu did not respond to calls to his mobile phone. But a Senior Police Officer in Anambra, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident to The Nation.
The officer said some people in the Command broke to the news to him though he could not confirm the number of casualties.
