The Inspector of Police, Ogunyemi Olalekan, who fired the shot that killed a football fan in Lagos State, Johnson Kolade, has been found guilty by the Orderly Room trial set up by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu.
According to a statement on Wednesday by the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, Olalekan’s co-accused, Sergeant Godwin Orji, was discharged and acquitted by the trail team, with a Chief Superintendent of Police, Indyar Apev, as the Adjudicating Officer.
Olalekan was “found guilty of discreditable conduct by acting in a manner prejudicial to discipline and unbecoming of members of the Force by shooting and killing Kolade Johnson; Unlawful and unnecessary exercise of authority by using unnecessary violence, by using AK 47 rifle on the deceased in total neglect to the provisions of Force Order 237 on the use of Firearms.”
