The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed 3am for reconvening to declare its position on the results of the February 23, 2019 presidential election.
This followed the conclusion of the declaration of the results of the election from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Jega, before declaring the adjournment of the sitting, said there was the need to take into consideration all the complaints from the states vis-a-vis the law.
In Rivers State, for example, close to about one million voters were said to have been disenfranchised, with voters from six of the state’s 23 local government areas not able to cast their ballot.
There were several other states where voters were also disenfranchised.
The two leading candidates in the poll, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, have met the requirement of winning at least 25 per cent of votes in at least 24 states of the Federation.
However, President Buhari scored the highest number of votes from the tally.
