The name of the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, is missing from those of governorship candidates for the state for the 2019 elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Daily Trust is reporting.
Tambuwal was expected to have been listed as governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party despite the fact that he did not take part in the party’s primaries.
He was at the time an aspirant for the PDP presidential ticket, which he eventually lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
However, other presidential aspirants like Tambuwal, including the President of the Senate, have been given their tickets back by those who won the primaries for the position.
Daily Trust is reporting that the INEC office in Sokoto is at the moment displaying the list of candidates for the elections.
The list has Manir Dan’iya as the governorship candidate of the PDP.
There are 34 names on the governorship list.
