Former African Footballer of the Year, George Opong Weah, has emerged the President of Liberia.
Though yet to be officially announced by the National Electoral Commission, Weah won in 13 of the country’s 15 Counties.
His major opponent and incumbent Vice President, Joseph Boakai, won in the remaining two Counties.
The election was conducted on Tuesday.
Yeah, late on Tuesday, tweeted on his Twitter account: “It is with deep emotion that I want to thank you, the Liberian people, for honoring me with your vote today. It is a great hope. #Liberia #Liberia2017.”
