The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the July 14, 2018 governorship election in the state.
Eleka, backed by his boss, Governor Ayo Fayose, defeated the only other candidate for the election and National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye.
Senator Abiodun Olujimi had before the commencement of voting stepped down for Adeyeye.
Out of a total vote of 1,968 cast during the primaries in Ado Ekiti, Eleka polled 1,191, with Adeyeye scoring 770 votes.
Seven votes were voided.
