The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been confirmed for another term of five years by the Senate.
The confirmation on Thursday comes after his screening on Wednesday by a Senate Committee, headed by Senator Rafiu Adebayo.
The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions presented its report to the whole house on Thursday, leading to Emefiele’s confirmation.
President Muhammadu Buhari had last week sent his name to the Senate for screening for another term of five years.
With the confirmation, Emefiele has become the second Governor of the CBN to be reappointed and the first Southerner to occupy the seat twice.
