Colombia in the wee hours of Thursday defeated Nigeria’s Dream Team VI in the last Group B match of the men’s football event of the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The Colombians went into the lead as early as the fourth minute in a match in which the outcome did not matter to the Nigerian team.
Win or lose, the Nigerian team, under the tutelage of Coach Samson Siasia, had qualified for the quarterfinals by winning their first two group matches.
They had earlier defeated Japan and Sweden.
The Colombians, with one point in the earlier two matches they had played, scored the second goal in the second half.
