The Presidency has denied reports in the media that President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation today again on the Coronavirus Disease.
Reports had been rife on Sunday that the President would address the nation again, but The Eagle Online had reported that the members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 only gave an impression of that happening but were not categorical on an address or when it will be.
The PTF, headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, had met with President Buhari on Sunday night.
Mustapha after the meeting told State House Correspondents that they had briefed the President and it was left to him to make pronouncements on what the future will look like.
The National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr. Aliyu Sani, also told Channels Television the same.
Speaking on the expectation that Buhari would address the nation today, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said there would be no presidential broadcast.
Adesina, on his Twitter handle on Monday, said the PTF would address Nigerians on the next stage in combating the virus.
He tweeted: “No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today.
“None was planned.
“Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.”
